New York Dream

New York Dream

By Douglas DoNascimento

Starting from the beginning, it’s my time to rise,

I am chasing those skies today,

Here’s to conquered, New York, New York,

Your restless lights, they can’t compromise.

I’ll dance around the heart of it, New York, New York,

Where my dreams ignite and spirits rise,

I wake up in this city – so alive,

Where I am the star, b’cause I belong here.

The blues will fade away,

I’m gonna make it a brand-new day today, New York, New York.

The dreams of yesterday are my reality today,

It’s me talking to you, New York, New York.

In the city where legends are born,

This noise is your anthem, from dusk until dawn,

Making it here, for the world to see,

Your name in these lights, b’cause you belong here.

Even when it’s tough, with a heart full of dreams,

Make it through the jungle New York,

Where your dreams take flight,

There’s nothing you can’t do, under these city lights.

The blues will fade away,

I’m gonna make it a brand-new day today, New York, New York.

The dreams of yesterday are my reality today,

It’s me talking to you, New York, New York.

On the avenue, my curfew is everyone’s grind,

A melting pot of souls, chasing to find,

From Staten Island to the Bronx, Queens to Brooklyn

My statue is of Liberty and my dreams will come true.

The blues will fade away,

I’m gonna make it a brand-new day today, New York, New York.

The dreams of yesterday are my reality today,

It’s me talking to you, New York, New York.

You’ll dreams big dreams in your heart,

And when realities hit your art,

You’re in New York, where stars are made,

Your present is this grand parade.

The best place to be.
