Red Balloon

Red Balloon

By Douglas DoNascimento

I saw a red balloon fly the summer sky,

Drifting away, I said goodbye.

Tied to my wrist, but now free,

Rising away, where it needs to be.

Sometimes we hold too tight…

Let the red balloon fly away,

Into the unknown, where dreams can play.

We’ve gotta let go for a new start,

Finding the courage deep deep in our heart.

I remember when I held on tight,

Afraid of change, lost in the night.

But every ending brings a new dawn,

Like the red balloon, we’ll carry on.

Sometimes we hold too tight…

Let the red balloon fly away,

Into the unknown, where dreams can play.

We’ve gotta let go for a new start,

Finding the courage deep deep in our heart.

Every tear that falls,

Like the broken glass walls,

Leads us to that one place,

Where we can see it face-to-face.

Without the red balloon,

We can find our tune,

Reaching to the stars,

Underneath a new moon.

Let the red balloon fly away,

Into the unknown, where dreams can play.

We’ve gotta let go for a new start,

Finding the courage deep deep in our heart.

I saw a red balloon fly the summer sky,

Drifting away, I said goodbye.

Through the tears and the endless rain,

We’ll find our joy, we’ll heal the pain.

I saw a red balloon fly the summer sky,

Drifting away, I said goodbye.

Through the tears and the endless rain,

We’ll find our joy, we’ll heal the pain.
